The end of the season has come for the Greene County volleyball team after a 3-2 loss to Van Meter on Tuesday on the Bulldog’s court in regional action, the Rams ending their season 15-13 overall and 5-2 in Heart of Iowa Conference play.
Greene County battled throughout the night, winning the first set 25-23 but fell 25-18 in the second. The third set was a tug-of-war with the teams fighting to a 29-27 finish, the Rams coming out on top. After the third set, the Rams were unable to keep the momentum going, falling 25-10 in the fourth and 15-8 in the fifth.
Senior Kaylee Stalder led the team in assists with 17 and kills with 15. Senior Graci Cooklin had 28 digs in the match while junior Emma Shipley led in blocks with three. Junior Violet Reedy had two aces in the game with 16 of 16 serves effective.
Graduating seniors are Kaylee Stalder and Graci Cooklin. The rest of the team looks to return to the court next season, hoping to improve on this year’s record.
